GRAND ISLAND - The Nebraska Danger and Sioux Falls Storm enter this Saturday's match-up with one glaring similarity. They both have one loss on the year, and the loss happened on the road at Arizona. Otherwise, both teams have clipped along. Both have wins over Iowa and Cedar Rapids in the early season, which makes this Saturday's showdown a big swing game for both teams when it comes to the league standings.
The Danger saw significant growth from second-string quarterback Jesse Scroggins in the team's win over Iowa on March 30th. Since being thrust into the starting role, Scroggins has gone 1-1, but improved greatly in the second half of the Iowa win.
Now, he faces another stiff test with IFL-power Sioux Falls looking to send the Danger to its second loss of the season. Sioux Falls is led by quarterback Lorenzo Brown, who is the IFL's second-leading passer through five weeks. Brown also comes in as the league's third-leading rusher, toting the rock for an average of 43.3 yards per game, while scampering in for five touchdowns on the year.
The Danger continue to see strong performances on both sides of the ball. Myke Tavarres earned this week's IFL Defensive Player of the Week Award, while kicker Brad Hatfield reeled in the Special Teams honor.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. this Saturday, April 7 for Tackle Cancer Night for the Grace Foundation.
Tickets are available at area Pump & Pantry Stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office or via Ticketmaster. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1 or streamed live at www.2dayfm1031.com with live video available at DangerFootball.com/Watch.
