The Blizzard got their first win of the season against the Danger on Saturday with a convincing score of 47-25. Green Bay had their best offensive showing with 326 yards, while also limiting the Danger to just 39 rushing yards.
On Star Wars Night, the force was strong with the Blizzard as they got off to an 7-0 lead in the first quarter with a 20 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryan Hicks to Jereme Jones. However, the Danger quickly responded with two touchdowns of their own to make the score 13-7.
At the end of the first quarter, quarterback Tyler Johnson got his first touchdown in a Blizzard uniform to take the lead 14-13. After a big defensive stop, the Blizzard extended their lead with another touchdown pass from Bryan Hicks to Kezlow Smith to make it 21-13.
The Danger would manage to shrink the lead to 21-19 in the next possession, but then the Blizzard started to run away with it. Hicks found Malott in the endzone with 30 seconds left of the half to make it 28-19 and then on the first play of the third quarter Hicks threw a 44 yard bomb to Kezlow Smith to increase the lead 34-19.
Nebraska scored a touchdown to try and mount a comeback at the end of the third to make it 34-25, but the fourth quarter was all Green Bay. Hicks went on to throw two more touchdowns to Jereme Jones and Kezlow Smith to secure the victory 47-25.
Bryan Hicks had a total of six touchdowns on the day with no interceptions. He threw for 201 yards and completed 16 on 19 attempts. Wide receiver Kezlow Smith had 98 yards with three touchdowns and Jereme Jones caught 6 passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. B.J. Hill, normally on the defensive side of the ball, got the start at running back. Hill ran for 86 yards on 12 attempts and had a long of 25 yards. The Blizzard went 4 for 5 on third downs and
Defensively, the Blizzard put the pressure on the Danger. Green Bay had five tackles for loss and three sacks on the night. Robert Metz had an excellent game as he had two sacks and Josh Jenkins lead the team with eight tackles. The Blizzard went 4 for 5 on third downs and limited the Danger to 4 for 10.
The Blizzard will do it again Saturday as they take on the IFL leading Arizona Rattlers in Green Bay. It is Live Generously Night at the Resch and kickoff starts at 7:05 p.m.!
