GREEN BAY, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard are excited to announce Corey Roberson as the official head coach for the 2019 IFL season.
Corey played nine seasons of indoor football as a defensive back. His stops included Rapid City,Billings, Wyoming and wrapping up in 2010 with the Green Bay Blizzard. After playing, Corey spent the next three seasons as a special teams and skills position coach then took over the defensive coordinator duties in 2014. From 2014 to 2018, Corey continued to assist with special teams and defense.
The former defensive coordinator was named the interim head coach late in the 2018 regular season. Corey will now have the "interim" title stripped away as he looks to build for the future.
"I am honored and humbled that the Blizzard's ownership team of Larry and Kathy Treankler are giving me the opportunity to guide this franchise and move it forward in a positive direction,"Roberson said. "I will work tirelessly to create a culture of accountability and dependability.Once those are established, everything else should play itself out."
Roberson added that while scouting and signing elite talent is obviously important, making sure players fit the team's value system and vision is equally critical. "We will put a team on the field that plays hard, fundamentally sound team football," he said. "We will build a team that 'Titletown' fans will relate to and be proud of."
His assistant coaching staff will be named at a later date. 2019 season tickets will be available soon.
